Introduction to Texas News Media.
Texas is a US state located in the south central part of the country. After Alaska, Texas is the second largest state and after California, it is the most populated state in the United States. Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and the Mexican states of Coahuila, Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Gulf of Mexico share borders with Texas.
Most of the population in Texas is based in Houston, followed by San Antonio. Other cities with a big urban population include Austin and El Paso. Because of an independent republic history, Texas earned a title of Lone Star State. The state had to struggle hard for its independence from Mexico. A Lone Star is seen on the state flag of Texas. In the native Caddo language, the word “táysha” that inspired the name of Texas means “friends”.
History of Texas Newspapers
